5SensActivities’ mission is to provide resources, education, and support to those working in the Activities profession and beyond.

5SensActivities has been around for more than 25 years serving activity professionals in the greater Washington State area. Our founder and CEO, Anita Dunlap was born and raised in Germany and moved to Washington State in 1979. She studied early childhood education with an emphasis in special education in Nurnberg Germany. She began her professional career in the US as a nursing assistant in a nursing home, building up experience as a restorative aide, activity director, and restorative supervisor.

It didn’t take long for others to recognize Anita's invaluable skills and to hire her as an activity consultant, teacher, presenter, and mentor for others. Anita developed her expertise working with residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, which motivated her to start 5SensActivities in 1994 (Sensations Activity Products Inc); her own business producing sensory stimulation products.

 

​Not only is Anita a gifted consultant and Entrepreneur but she is also an approved instructor of the Modular Education Course for Activity Professionals. For the past 25 years, Anita has taught MEPAP courses in person and is now making her courses and products available online.
